Conference Theme: Opening up Possibilities through Narrative Practice
Aim of the Conference:
- To gather the narrative therapy community of South Africa for three days of learning and connection.
- To introduce a big number of colleagues to narrative practices.
- To provide local and overseas colleagues the opportunity to present their work and make visible the many possibilities that narrative therapy hold for a diversity of contexts, people and challenges.
Who should attend?
Any person with an interest in narrative therapy – colleagues from psychology, psychiatry, social work, pastoral therapy, the clergy, counsellors working in communities, students etc. The Narrative Therapy Foundations pre-conference workshop presented by Stephen Madigan will be an excellent way to familiarise yourself with Narrative Therapy before attending the two day conference. More experienced colleagues will have the choice of the two pre-conference workshops presented by Jeff Zimmerman and David Nylund respectively.
Invitation to present papers
Apart from keynote presentations there will be parallel sessions of 50 min each throughout the two days. In this way we hope to accommodate many therapists with an interest in sharing their work.
Continued Professional Development (CPD)
Applications will be made to HPCSA (6 points are normally allocated for the 6 hrs per day) and SACSSP
